Happy Melting Monday!

Our weather has finally warmed up & the patio is drying out.  John also swept the garage free of ice that had dropped off the vehicles & it is drying out!  Wow, what a pleasant day at 53 degrees!  I was just out to the mailbox & really didn't want to come back in.  But -- snow in the forecast for tomorrow -- boo!

I want to pass along this information about a shop that is offering my Civil War Battle Series as an online Quilt of the Month!  Sound like fun . . . ?

Happy Valentine's Day !

Just a quick note to bring you a Valentine's greeting!  Hope you are enjoying your day & the entire month of February.  Don't you just love my greeter!

Sharon & I are working on new designs for spring market.  Traveling east to Pennsylvania excites us to the max & our quilting juices are running!  In fact, I'm also having visions of visiting some more Civil War sites while we are there.

Well, hubby's calling & I have to go!  Again, have a glorious day!

Quilt Shop Day on Saturday!

Happy New Year!  Here we are into the end of January already.  Our weather in Iowa has been nasty cold with blowing snow, bad visibility & everything that goes with it.  I'm just hoping that next Saturday brings us a sunny & warmer day so all us can get out & visit our favorite quilt shops.  Doesn't that sound like a good plan!

You can also visit http://www.quiltshopday.com to see everything that is going on & support your local quilt shop owner.

A while ago the owner of Quilt Patch, Etc. in Mt. Pleasant, PA emailed me this cute picture of how she displays Clothesline Quilts patterns - on a clothesline!

Go to quiltpatchetc.com to see what she has going on!

Enjoy your Saturday of shopping!

Merry Christmas to All!

Almond Sugar Cookies
A simple Merry Christmas to all of you in Blogland!  I have been thinking of you for weeks now, but with no extra time to write until today - Christmas Day!!

Being Danish, I love anything almond; especially pure almond - the real thing! These little cookies are a favorite of mine & the family.  I thought it only fitting to share the recipe with you today!

Almond Sugar Cookies

1 cup softened butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon almond extract - the real stuff  - pure!
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Glaze

1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon almond extract - pure!
4 to 5 teaspoons water

Sliced almonds!

Roll dough into 1" balls; place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.  Flatten to 1/4" thickness with the bottom of a buttered glass dipped in sugar.  Don't push down too far!

Bake for 7 minutes at 400 degrees or until edges are very lightly browned.  Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheet.  Cool completely.  Frost with glaze & decorate with almonds!

Makes 3 1/2 dozen cookies!  Enjoy!

I hope you have all enjoyed a very special holiday with friends & family.  It is the most wonderful time of the year!

Have a super New Year 2014!
